Continuous Casting - Electromagnetic Stirrer, CC-EMS

In order to continuously cast high quality steels for demanding purposes electromagnetic stirring is a must. Stirring will improve strand quality, reproducibility, yield, production flexibility and productivity and is therefore a useful tool for normal steel production as well. For each application the optimum stirrer choice can be made, taking into account the steel grades cast, the strand sizes, etc. The clickable picture above provides results and improvements possible with our products.

MEMS, SEMS and FEMS are three different types of EMS. MEMS is a mould stirrer of rotary type, the SEMS is a strand stirrer, generally of linear type and finally FEMS is a final stirrer of rotary type.

Mould stirrers are designed for external or internal arrangements. For internal arrangements the ModMEMS is the optimum choiche. This stirrer is as the name implies modular and comes in two different sizes for continuous casting of billets. Among the major benefits are the easy maintenance, the low energy consumption and also the fact that no separate cooling water system is required.
